Welcome new Cousin Bentley!

As you all know earlier this year I lost my cousin Max the boxer, we were all so sad and he will always be remembered.  So now is a good time to introduce you all to my new cousin Bentley.  He is also a boxer but brindle with a lovely black face.  He's only a few months old but already a really clever boy and I can't wait to play with him and run in the park! Welcome to the family Bentley.

Supper time! Time for change now i'm grown!

Now that i'm one it's time to change my food to the adult bags.  I started off with the Eukanuba Adult but it was giving me terrible gas so dad went to Pets At Home and they recommended their own brand and it's really yummy and no gas!  Give it a try, Balance Nutrition from Pets at Home.

Bully Brothers I never had..

Just wanted to share with you some of my family that I never met, this is Jax the Mini English BullTerrier and Harlem a full size Bully.  Both dogs were rescued and given a second chance, I think that adopting a pet that has been subject to cruelty is an amazing thing!!  Would have been good to meet them but never got the chance, anyway i'm sure wherever they are now they are much happier!!

My Uncle Max the Boxer!

I wanted to share with you some pictures of my Uncle Max.  He is a boxer dog!  Max was born December 29th 1999 so that makes him 12 years old.  Max has been around some time now and had a great life.  He's one of the most loyal, disciplined and loving dogs I know.  Max recently had some health issues, but thankfully he's doing ok now, he is getting old but I hope he continues to  be the happy Boxer he is.  When I grow up (if I ever do) I'd like to be just like him..  Pictures and Breed information below.

About the Breed

The Boxer is happy, high-spirited, playful, curious and energetic. Highly intelligent, eager and quick to learn. The Boxer is a good dog for competitive obedience. Constantly on the move, bonding very closely with the family. Loyal and affectionate, Boxers are known for the way they get along so well with children.  This breed is noted for courage and make great guard dogs. Boxers have a wide use in military and police work. They are extremely athletic, sometimes even in their old age. This dog needs to go on a daily pack walk. Daily mental and physical exercise is paramount. Without it, the Boxer will become high strung. This breed requires a dominant owner. Training should start young and be firm and consistent. The objective in training this dog is to achieve a pack leader status.

Ashleigh and Pudsey WIN Britain's Got Talent 2012

Dancing dog trick act Ashleigh and Pudsey have won ITV's Britain's Got Talent, scooping a £500,000 prize.

Ashleigh Butler, 17, trained her pet to jump and dance for their elaborate routine, performed to Lalo Schifrin's Mission Impossible theme.
Judge Simon Cowell said the pair, from Northamptonshire, were one of his "favourite ever acts".
The television audience peaked at 14.5 million, said ITV. The pair will appear in the Royal Variety Performance.
Butler cried when presenters Ant and Dec announced her win.

My life's work is now complete”

She said: "I just want to say thank you to everyone that voted for me, and I'm just so proud of Pudsey."

Butler hugged her dog and said: "I love you."

She said Pudsey - a border collie, bichon frise and Chinese crested cross - had become "very diva-ish" during the last week, and had been demanding steak dinners.

Some Friends of Mine..

Here is one of my friends, his name is Ralphy and he is a Hungarian Vizsla, Originated from Hungary, the Hungarian Vizsla is a member of the gundog group. It is one of only 7 recognised breeds that hunt, point and retrieve (HPR). They were originally used for hunting and in falconry; today they are used as gundogs and as companions.

Fortunately for me I live by a farm, so when the weather is nice I like to go and visit my friends and they always come to greet me when I do.  Thought I'd share some pictures with you..

LOST DOG!

Would you know what to do if you lost your pet?

Well that's exactly what happened to me, I was a naughty puppy and ran away from my owner, for a full 90 minutes I was alone in the world.  I haven't yet been chipped so thought that was it for me.  We went to the park and I decided to chase a bike, I think I ran too fast and just got lost.  Thankfully, my owner did the smart thing and got me back.  In case this ever happens to you, follow these important rules and hopefully you'll be found just like I was!

  • Call your vet, if anyone finds you, they are likely to call the nearest Vet to see if you're registered.
  • Call the local council, they are likely to have a Dog Warden that circulates the area and could help in locating your lost pet.
  • Call the police, they can file a missing dog report and help look for you.
  • Make posters and get them up asap, at least if you are seen wandering the streets someone might recognize you from the posters.  Be sure to put them in the Vet and surrounding area!
  • Call the local Stray Dog Catcher, the number can be obtained from the local council.
Thank you to my owners for doing all these things, a woman had found me and the stray dog catcher who had been given a full description of me spotted me with her walking up the street and pulled over and took me back home.

Boy was I happy to see my dad again, he was mad at me for running away and I'm grounded for a month but at least I got to sleep in my bed and have a good meal that night.  I'll never do that again, that's for sure!

CRATES

Crate training is highly recommended.  It is both for the health and safety of the puppy to have a place of its' own to go to when not being directly supervised.  As a member of the canine family such as foxes and wolves, it is natural for a dog to want a "den" to feel safe and secure in.  Bull terriers love to have a blanket of their own in their crate.

Crate size is based upon the requirements of a full size dog being able to comfortably stand, turn around and lie down.  Preferably made of heavy gauge wire with two sliding action security bolts.  The wire crate allows the dog to see out in all directions, and for the owner to see in.  With a hinged top, it is easy to clean out if the puppy makes a mess.   I happen to have an extra large one that's probably for Great Danes but I love it cos it's big enough for my blanket, bowls and all my toys!!  Thanks Dad!
